Two Time Cancer Survivor Wins $4.6M Lottery in Oregon

An Oregon man who survived cancer twice has just won a $4.6 million prize from a winning megabucks ticket.

Stu MacDonald plays the megabucks lottery once a week, and his wife Claudia always makes sure to remind him to buy the winning ticket. The one day Claudia forgot to tell him is the day Stu bought the winning tickets from Ashley’s Cafe in Bend, Oregon.

MacDonald says, “I am a very lucky guy. I have survived cancer twice and here I am. This is amazing.”

Ashley’s Cafe director of operations Tezra Kong told Oregon Lottery, “we are thrilled to learn that we sold a Megabucks jackpot. We are excited for the team who sold the ticket. A big congratulations to our guests on their windfall. Some of the seller’s bonus will go back to the team that strive to delight our guests every day here at Ashley’s in Wagner Mall.”

Ashley’s Cafe is set to receive 1% of the winnings, which comes to a total of about $46,000, for selling the winning ticket. After the cash options and taxes, Stu will be pocketing roughly $1.5 million.
