A teenager from Georgia is being called a hero by locals after he heroically saves 14 Clydesdale horses from a burning barn.
In the middle of the night, the Martin family’s home was struck by lightning. Shannon Martin told a local news station, “it shook the whole house. One minute I am in bed; the next minute I am standing up next to the bed trying to figure out what happened.”
Soon after the lightning hit, a fire erupted in their horse barn and it went up in flame. Not only was the barn on fire, but the barn doors were locked and 14 horses were inside.
16-year-old Macon Martin was quick on his feet, and knew he had to do something. He recalled his actions that night, “I just ran right out. I had no clothes on, no shoes, no nothing, I just jumped in our Gator and I just ran it right into the door.”
Shannon says, “He busted through like Rambo and opened up the end of the stalls and said, ‘Mom, this way.’ And we were able to push the horses out that way.”
Thanks to Macon’s quick thinking, all 14 horses made it out unharmed, even though the barn was destroyed in the process.
